As hard as they try, some women are unable to achieve their personal goals as they fall "between the cracks" of assistance from agency services. Working to alleviate that problem and help these women, The Rosie Fund was established in 2004. It was chartered through the Community Foundation of Kankakee River Valley, and its mission statement adopted:

"The Rosie Fund helps women in temporary situations conquer their problems to reach their goals of self-sufficiency and independence. You can help, and together, we can do it."

Sam GlennOn Saturday, March 6, 2010, 8:00am, The Rosie Fund will bring one of the most exciting speakers to Kankakee for their annual breakfast. Sam Glenn has shared his "Kick In Your Attitude" message with more than two million people and audiences as large as 75,000 in nearly every industry. He has delivered over 100 speeches per year to respected corporations, organizations, and educational groups and will deliver it to the Rosie group at the Kankakee Country Club. "I used the 'POWER of Attitude' to overcome failure, depression and negativity, to create a better life and if I can do it, anyone can. When our attitude changes, life follows," said Sam Glenn, author of A Kick in the Attitude. "The fact that we may fail doesn't decrease our value, but it presents the opportunity to learn, grow and become more." Cost of the Breakfast is $25. Reservations can be made by calling the Community Foundation at 815-939-1611 or e-mailing info@therosiefund.org.
